LST Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers and the second deadliest cancer in Hong Kong. About 90% of colorectal cancer patients are aged 50 or above. Most colorectal cancers start with small benign colorectal polyps, yet some have the possibilities to develop into malignant cancers. Delayed treatment may cause damages to body organs or in severe cases, spread throughout the body. Therefore, screening and early detection is effective in prevention and cure of the disease.
The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon has already joined the Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme implemented by the Department of Health, providing Hong Kong residents with consultation and screening services to help prevent colorectal cancer. Eligible citizens can now make appointments in advance to consult our enrolled primary care doctor (PCD) and undergo the Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT). Participants with positive screening results shall be referred to colonoscopy examination and follow up services by colonoscopy specialists.
Hong Kong citizens at the age of 56 to 75 with valid HKID are now eligible for the programme.
