Ms. Lee Pui Ah
Chairlady of the Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon (2025-2026)
I am profoundly honored to have the support of our Board of Directors and colleagues in being elected as the Chairlady of the Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon (Lok Sin Tong) for the year 2025.
I recognize the significant responsibilities that lie ahead, but I am confident that, with the collective support and efforts of our motherland, various government departments, philanthropic individuals and enterprises, along with our Board of Directors and dedicated teams at our headquarters and units, we can promote even more prompt and high-quality services to the community in the coming year.
The year 2025 marks the 145th anniversary of Lok Sin Tong. We are committed to serving the public and those in need with our diverse and quality services while upholding our spirit of "Love and Care."
To celebrate our 145th anniversary, we will organize a series of promotional events, including a "Charity Clothing Day," the release of a special edition commemorating our 145 years of service, and promotional videos featuring beneficiaries of our programs to raise public awareness of our charitable efforts.
We will continue our "Love Our Home, Treasure Our Country 3.0" initiative in collaboration with the Education Bureau (EDB) to promote national education, deepen students' understanding of Chinese culture, and strengthen their affection for and sense of belonging to our country. This will include the event titled "Non-material Cultural Heritage and National Treasures of the Heart Connected to the Country Temple Fair" on the National Security Education Day, which will be held on 15th April. Furthermore, we will hold a "Joyful Day of Skillful Goodness" in June to promote traditional Chinese craftsmanship and intangible cultural heritage to the public.
Our subsidized schools will continue to implement STEAM education, optimizing the curriculum and offering diverse extracurricular activities to enhance our students' skills in AI and creativity.
In collaboration with our networks in the mainland, we will invite students from our schools to participate in an "Ecological and Environmental Tour" in April to promote environmental education and familiarize our students with environmental protection measures and policies in our country.
The year 2025 also marks the commencement of the seventh phase of the "Smoking Cessation for the Workplace" program for frontline employees across various enterprises. The sixth phase concluded successfully last December, and the seventh phase commenced in January of 2025, encouraging corporate participation in promoting a smoke-free Hong Kong. An outcome-sharing conference is scheduled to take place in August.
With the generous funding support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, we will establish a new dental flagship clinic this year in Tai Kwok Tsui to address the primary oral healthcare needs of the community.
Supported by the government, we will continue the operation of district health express centres in both Kowloon City and Yau Tsim Mong districts. Our focus will be on enhancing services in alignment with the "Primary Healthcare Blueprint," thereby increasing citizens' awareness of disease prevention and their ability to manage their health.
We are dedicated to fostering community ethnic integration and supporting minority groups. This includes providing a variety of programs for our ethnic minority (EM) members. One highlight will be our sponsorship and participation in the “Songkran Festival,” the traditional Thai New Year festival, organized by the Kowloon City District Office in April. Members of our Lok Sin Tong Lee Yin Yee Ethnic Minorities Supporting Centre will showcase their talents through performances and exhibitions.
Last year, we collaborated with Guangzhou's elderly homes "Chunxianmiao" as part of the Pilot Scheme of Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong (GDRCS Scheme), initiated by the Social Welfare Department. This year, we will continue to seek partnerships with care homes to offer more high-quality options for elderly care in the Greater Bay area.
Our social enterprise is currently developing an innovative initiative called "Future Kitchen," which leverages technology in cooking and delivery to provide affordable and nutritious meal services for the elderly, individuals in need, and students.
In response to the government’s efforts to enhance regional governance, we support the District-based Care Team initiatives of the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, including assisting the "Dragon City Care Team" in providing support to residents in the Kowloon City community. With backing from various district offices, we will deploy interprofessional teams to different areas to train care team members and volunteers.
Our transitional housing project "LST Housing" and the Sham Shui Po Community Living Room project have seen a steady increase in service users. In the coming year, we will organize a range of family-friendly activities and counseling sessions to provide appropriate support for underprivileged families, helping them expand their social networks and offering uplifting opportunities.
Our volunteer organization, "LST Buddy," composed of volunteers from various business and public sectors, will continue to conduct a wide range of volunteer activities. One notable event will be the "Charity Rice Dumplings" initiative prior to the Dragon Boat Festival in May, during which we will distribute socially responsible rice dumplings and blessing bags to over 1,860 elderly and underprivileged families, fostering community care and spreading kindness.
Additionally, our Board of Directors annually sponsors rehabilitation promotion activities for the Correctional Services Department, encouraging the community to support rehabilitated individuals in their reintegration into society.
Members of our Board of Directors will also engage with various government departments to strengthen collaboration and communication, working together to promote more impactful services for the community.
To support the development of our charitable services, we will host several major fundraising events this year. Notably, our "Flag Day" in July will feature student-designed flags themed "Celebrating the 145th Anniversary of Lok Sin Tong," which holds special significance for us. Additionally, we will organize a Charity Walk, an annual charity gala, and charity candy sales.
We are committed to continuously optimizing and promoting our existing services to reach and assist more individuals in need. In closing, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our motherland, government departments, Board of Directors, and my colleagues for their unwavering support of Lok Sin Tong.
Please continue to support us.
