Vaccination Program

Influenza is an infectious viral disease. It can be caused by various types of influenza viruses and spreads by respiratory droplets. The disease is characterized by fever, sore throat, cough, headache, muscle aches, runny nose and general tiredness. If persons with weakened immunity and elderly persons get infected, it can be a serious illness and may be complicated by bronchitis, pneumonia or even death in the most serious cases. Serious influenza infection can also occur in healthy individuals.

In response to The Department of Health's suggestion, Lok Sin Tong implements the vaccination program during winter flu seasonal annually. Participatns will be injected with the inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV), which could prevents the spreading of diseases in the community. All eligible groups are fully funded by the Department of Health. Eligible groups include children from 6 months to 12 years old, people over 50 years old, pregnant women, people with intellectual disabilities and those receiving disability allowance.
